The Research and Training Institute of East Aegean (INEAG), which was funded in 1995, has been operated since 1996 at the K’ OASIS complex, located in the north part of Samos Island. This beautiful Greek Island is the birthplace of Pythagoras, the ancient mathematician and of Epicurus, the ancient philosopher. INEAG has established a modern technological infrastructure and has been involved in the organization of international world gatherings: including meetings, conferences, educational seminars and summer schools. The Research Institute cooperates with remarkable domestic and scientific bodies of the public and private sector and has been participated in EU programs from 1996 to today. It co-organizes with National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and other Universities the ICIETE (from 2010 became ICE), AFE and ICICTH International Conferences. The main aims of INEAG are: - The scientific scanning and analysis of the financial, industrial and business problems concerning the development of economy of the East Aegean, aiming at the deduction of conclusions as well as the formation of proposals for the confrontation of the various developmental problems regarding the islands of the East Aegean.
- The observation of the development in science and technology in Greece and globally and their spread in the area of East Aegean.
- The promotion of ICT applications (telemedicine, tele-training, teleconference) aiming at the abolition of any geophysical obstacles and therefore, the reduction of the feeling of isolation from the urban areas, from which they totally depend for the coverage of their most basic needs.
- The cooperation with the wider Public and Private Sector on the Open and Distance Training / Informing of target groups (students of all grades, professionals, unemployed persons etc) via the Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) in subjects of major interest such us: earthquakes, environmental issues, tourism, culture etc.
- The collaboration with operators, Institutions, Organizations, and Corporations within and out of the EU.
- The support or assumption of patterns of action for the environmental protection and national heritage as well as the promotion of actions and programs for the preservation of monuments and the restoration of the traditional buildings of the area.
- The organization of conferences, seminars and meetings aiming at the projection and promotion all of the above.
