6th ICE Samos 2010

The ICE Samos is an annual conference that provides a forum for teachers, academicians and education researchers to share their experiences and the results of their studies with students, other researchers, and practitioners from around the world. In general approaches all those topics that are dealing with education.
ICE Samos 2010 is co-organized (at the moment) by the:
· Research and Training Institute of the East Aegean (INEAG), Greece
· National & Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece
· Hellenic Ministry of National Education and Religious Affairs, Greece - Operational Programme for Education and Initial Vocational Training (O.P. "Education").
Frontiers in Education are the central theme of the ICE 2010
In a sense, the 6th ICE is a retreat for members of the education community; focusing on teacher/trainer competence and evaluation of educational systems as a whole. Providing keynote speakers, plenary sessions and workshops, the conference will provide participants with a forum for intensive interdisciplinary interaction and collegial debate.
Purpose of ICE is to:

Promote the improvement of research and evaluation on education

Foster professional collaboration among persons who promote research, conduct research or utilize research findings in the field of education.
Those attending ICE will acquire an excellent overview of current thinking and practices in applications of evaluation to education. Thematic streams will include alternative processes, procedures, techniques and tools for creating learning environments and teacher capabilities competent with the twenty-first century demands in education.

Dr.
C.A.
(Kees-Jan) van Dorp is Research Director and advisory to the Board and Executive
of EADTU. EADTU is the representative organisation of both the European open and
distance teaching universities, and the national consortia of higher education
institutions active in the field of distance education and e-learning. Van Dorp
maintains active involvement in research by coordination of European and US
funded projects, task forces, academic initiatives and stakeholder cooperation,
viz. the European Commission, the European University Association, the William
and Flora Hewlett Foundation, the OpenCourseWare Consortium, and the United
Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization.
He
developed multiple Good Practices in
strands of Leonardo da Vinci, Socrates Minerva, Information Society Technologies, Lingua, Erasmus, KA4 Multilateral and Jean Monet, relating to
European virtual
campuses, employability, university-enterprise cooperation, open
educational resources, modernisation of HE, and curriculum development. Van
Dorp delivered education and research at Maastricht
University,
contract research at Wageningen
University and
contract education at University College Maastricht. He obtained various grants
from government and foundations for research on knowledge and information management.
Van
Dorp has authored en edited several books and dozens of publications. He serves
multiple programme committees and is requested keynote speaker, workshop leader, moderator, presenter, panellist, peer reviewer and
domain expertee. He obtained his master degree at Eindhoven University of Technology and his PhD degree at Wageningen
University.
