8th ICICTH Samos 2010, 15-17 July, 2010 8th International Conference on ICT in Health (ICICTH) 2010 constitutes an invaluable opportunity not only for knowledge exchange but also for the initiation of fruitful collaborations between scientists, researchers, doctors and other hospital staff and professionals from all over the world. Explicitly, PhD candidates are invited to present and discuss their research ideas and work in progress. Topics in reference to eHealth, Biomedical and Health Informatics, Health Information Systems, Medical Imaging, Artificial Intelligence in Medicine and Health Sciences, Knowledge Engineering, Data mining, Biostatistics, but also health general topics like Education and elearning in healthcare domain, Health administration and Management, Patient Empowerment, and Quality are more than welcome to be presented in 8th ICICTH Samos 2010.

* Contributions will only be published at 8th ICICTH 2010 proceedings (ISSN and ISBN) and other publications if at least one of the authors of the paper is registered before 28th of May 2010 (in person or virtually). NOTE: Selected papers of ICICTH will be considered for publication in the Journal Applied Clinical Informatics (ACI). Thus, authors are kindly requested to submit their papers by following the guidelines that are described at “ICICTH: Submission and Guide”. Prof. Dr. Fillia Makedon Professor and Chairperson University of Texas at Arlington Keynote Speaker Presentation 8th ICICTH 2010 Intelligent Assistive Environments for Remote Healthcare Monitoring, Risk Prevention and Rehabilitation Friday, 16 July 2010 10:30 - 11:00 Prof. Dr. Fillia Makedon Professor and Chairperson University of Texas at Arlington Fillia Makedon is Name Professor and Department Head of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA). She received her Ph.D. in Computer Science from Northwestern University in 1982. Between 1991-2006, she was professor of computer science at Dartmouth College where she founded and directed the Dartmouth Experimental Visualization Laboratory (DEVLAB). In 2005-2006, she was Program Director at the National Science Foundation. Prior to Dartmouth, Prof. Makedon was Assistant and Associate Professor at the Univ. of Texas at Dallas (UTD), where she directed the Computer LEArning Research Center (CLEAR). She has supervised over 22 Ph.D. theses and numerous Masters Degrees. She received the Dartmouth Senior Research Professor Award, three Fulbright awards, and is author of over 300 peer-reviewed research publications. She currently directs the HERACLEIA Human Centered Computing Laboratory (www.heracleia.uta.edu), that develops pervasive technologies for human monitoring with applications to healthcare. She is member of several journal editorial boards, chair of the PETRA conference (www.petrae.org) and senior editor of two electronic journals, EJETA.ORG, and CSURJ.ORG. Makedon has received many research awards in the areas of trust management, data mining, parallel computation, visualization, and knowledge management from the National Science Foundation, the NIH, DOJ and various foundations. |
